Hey folks, I am currently with FairPoint for my internet service and they are getting very expensive. I’m at 76 bucks a month for dsl and one home phone. I really do need the home phone since I don’t use it. But FairPoint will not let me drop the phone. Is there a less expensive provider in the Carrabelle area?.
HELP!!

I do have DISH for my TV and I noticed that they offer internet. Anyone have any G2 on that service?

Mediacom is $40 a month but you have to sign a contract.

You can check and see if the phone is "Basic only" to reduce cost. It is sometimes worth it to get internet service thru your cell provider also "especially if you have a laptop"

I just went around and around with Fairpoint. I did away with my "hard line" phone at Cape San Blas and at first they told me that I would have to buy DSL plus a $6.95 line fee. Then they said it would be $80 bucks. Finally, after a bunch of phone calls, I ended up with DSL and a VoIP phone for $53 a month plus the $3.95 I pay the VoIP system. Of course, my billing is still not correct!

Thanks. I am still dickering around with these ya-hoos. I changed my hard line to an emergency phone only and got the bill down to 61.95 including all taxes. I still think it is too high. Anyone else have any ideas?

Check to see if you can get Xfinity there. I recently got the internet only service installed in Medart for $19.99 intro for 12 months. No phone, no TV, and their slower version of internet, but I'm OK with the speed. Installation fee was $37.00. I also bought my own modem at wal-mart and saved $7 a month in the long run.
I set the deal up online since when I called they kept trying to bundle it.
