Garmin Homeport Sd Card

I have the Garmin Homeport program on SD card for the computer. It was a gift back in July, I've never been able to sync the program and my Gmap 76cx. After spending a 2 hrs lst night i'm fed up. If anybody has any idea how to sync my tracks to the homeport program that would be awesome, if not I'm gonna let somebody else make better use of the program. I know it sells for $20 through Garmin or at retailers, so I'm asking half price $10. I have a generic progam that syncs up fine just wanted the detail of the garmin maps and my tracks together. So first come first helped or sold I guess!!

I bought Homeport a couple of years ago. Had some trouble initially so I called Garmin customer support. He walked me through it. Afterwards, he said since i had already bought it, he could let me in on a secret. He told me to just go to EasyGPS and get the free version. Maybe that is the generic one you speak of. Oops, it just occurred to me. I remember asking him if Homeport would work with my old b&w 76 handheld. He said no, but that the Easy GPS would

I have a 76 series Garmin, display is color, don't recall the exact model but it has a micro SD card in it for data. Once the Homeport is running on your PC you can copy data to/from the miscro SD card and it will show them on the GPS at least on my series. I would make sure I had a backup of all your data on a different card and a backup in the PC before I started messing with it as you can make a mistake and copy over the data on the GPS which would not be a good thing!

My experience with Homeport has been that it will only work via SD or microSD cards or the dedicated Garmin Data cards, you can't connect a handheld GPS via the USB cable as Homeport doesn't seem to recognize the unit(at least on the ones I've tried).

It took me a little while to get the concept but I've been able to make it work on just about every Garmin product I've worked on including some of the older models that had the special Garmin data storage cards. You can find owner's manuals on Garmin's website for info on how each specific unit transfers data.
