I want to start by saying I do not own an assault rifle and don't want one.
But I am frustrated by our reactive nature fueled by the media and our government.

MSNBC is saying only handguns were used in the shooting- not the AR-15 or any "high capacity magazines"

Ditto and yes, "supposedly the AR was in the trunk"... from various accounts I've read/heard FWIW.

I think the general consensus is that the AR was used.

I came across a chart I find interesting. All of the screaming has been about "assault weapons", but look at the handgun to rifle murder rates. Also notice the gun murder rate has come DOWN almost 10% since 2007 (remember, the assault weapon ban expired in 2005)

But you will never see those comparisons on the media. And these are stats straight from the FBI site!

No, the general TRUTHFULL consensus is that the AR was LOCKED IN THE TRUNK AND NOT USED!! It was the current administration getting involved that spun the AR into the shooting and ignoring the truth "the feds where caught on tape removing the AR from the trunk by a news crew"!!

The media will report anything these days with no proof. There were a lot of differing accounts reported. There are reports of 2 pistols, 4 pistols, an AR15 in the building, AR used to kill everyone, AR left in the trunk and only pistols used, and other guesses and "reports".
There is video of some kind of long gun being removed from the car trunk the evening after the shooting but I can't tell what kind of gun it is. I don't think it looks like and AR 15 but it could be.

I first heard of this shooting at 11 am the morning of the shooting. The radio report I was tuned to (100.7) was interviewing a police officer on scene. He stated then that 2 handguns were used and recovered inside the school. He also said a rifle(didn't say Assault rifle) was recovered from his locked car in the parking lot.

From CNN:

(CNN) -- Adam Lanza brought three weapons inside Sandy Hook Elementary school on December 14 and left a fourth in his car, police said. Those weapons were a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle and two handguns -- a Glock 10 mm and a Sig Sauer 9 mm.

In the car he left a shotgun, about which police have offered no details. Lanza used one of the handguns to take his own life, although police haven't said whether the gun was the Glock or the Sig Sauer.

They later stated he used the 10mm glock to off himself.

That video makes it look like a shotgun...
I just want folks to have all the details before we start reacting.

Facts make little to no difference to the mainstream media today!

Today, all I will say is that I have prayed for the souls of those children who were senselessly murdered. Tomorrow we can discuss the 2nd Amendment.
