Fishing Horseshoe Beach next week for Spring break and have never been there. Need all the help I can get. Usually go out of Keaton or Steinhatchee.

I haven't been in years, but my memory says get a chart. Oyster bars line the channel.

I went there in January and we put about 40 spec trout in the boat (3 keepers) with our best luck at the end of the canal. We went one marker after all the rocks and turned right and drifted the open water 3-5ft at high tide. My friend went out last week and said 100 yards left of marker 7 is holding sand trout. He said to anchor down and you should catch as many as you want. Low tide is hard to get around out there.

I fished Shired Island a couple of times which is also in the area and never really did to well. Caught a couple nice reds but that was about it.

I've fish Horseshoe several times with my brother. We found the best fishing grounds toward Pepperfish Key.

With this rosy of a report, sounds to me like you have real estate to sell down there! :smt005

My friend goes there a lot so he knows the area. He did tell me about the pepperfish key and that it was a good spot, we just struggled the day we went due to the extreme low tide. I'm hoping to go back soon.
