i recently took my lower unit off my 2003 25hp honda tiller motor to replace a broken part. now that i put it back together it wil not go into foward. I adjusted the shift linkage nut all the way up and down with no luck. any ideas what is causing this?

Yes - When you dropped the lower unit, it got shifted out of neuteral and into forward. The reason it will not shift into forward via the handle or gear shift is that the lower unit is probably already in forward gear. When you try to start it now does the prop turn?
THe old Mercury outboards used to be real easy to do this to if you were not careful. A mechanic told me to shift them into forward prior to dropping the foot to avoid this problem. It works every time.
You are going to have to drop the foot again, shift the foot and the gear control both into forward, then re-attach the foot. (This is all assuming that the Honda's are somewhat similar in design to the Mercury's).

Another thing - You would be better served to put the linkage back to the original position if possible before you start removing the foot again.

You could probably put it in reverse - really neutral now...drop the lower unit...put the shifter back in the real neutral and then push lower unit back in.
