Steering cable compatibility question?
I'm looking to possibly re-power my J16 Skiff with a 2000 Honda 40 HP (Model BF40AY).The motor does not come with the steering cable and I was wondering if I might get lucky and the old cable from my 1989 Yamaha Pro50 might hook up to it? I'm also looking at possibly re-powering with a 1989 48 HP Johnson so the same question about compatibility would apply here as well.
Re: Steering cable compatibility question?
A steering cable is a steering cable is a steering cable
It should work with no problem

Re: Steering cable compatibility question?
BTW, Waviel Porter in Woodville has the best deals on steering cables if you do need a set.
That is if you are referring to throttle and shifter, not steering.

If the cable you have now works it will work with the new motor.
