Econfina 4/13

Only got about 2 hours of sleep Friday night (Sat morning) because I was excited about getting to go fishing the first time in a month. Woke up at about 3:30 even though my alarm wasnt set until 4:30 and then had to sit and wait for everyone else to get up and get ready. We got to Econfina about 7 30 and headed down the river about 8. The parking was full! Ran out a little ways to about 2.5 to 3' of water. THe water was so dark you could barely make out the bottom in 2'. The wind blowing from the north was cold! Water temp started out around 68. One of my friends hasnt been fishing at the coast in 15 years and his very first cast he put a 16.5" trout in the cooler. I was thinking the bites on! Well over the next 2 hours we steadily caught several fish but the shorts were 2 to 1 with the keepers. After drifting to about 5' we lost the bite and ran back in and redrifted and same thing again. By 10 we had 7 in the cooler and the bite had slowed. We moved several times and put 4 more in the boat before we left about 4. I wanted to go back today but decided not to with the weather moving in. We never could get into any big trout. Final tally was 11 trout 16-19 inches. We still couldnt break the redfish curse on my boat! I dont know what it is but for some reason we cant catch a redfish. Any tips are welcomed! Overall it was a great time. I was wore out by the time we got home
