So like many that have posted recently I too was able to get on a nice bite on Sat. Even tho my buddie and his roommate didn't show til almost 9:30 :smt011
We headed east and once the Gps zeroed out we set a drift...First cast...WHAM..a fat 19 incher..I knew the day was off to a great start..So after a few more drifts and me slapping a mean 23 inch fatty in the boat(FIRST EVER :-D ) we got our limit and the winds picked up,so we headed in..We decided since it was only about a qtr after 12 why not have a good ole fish fry and have a few cold ones to compliment the trout and to enhance playoffs that were on.So the guys headed home to shower and pic up some brews; I got home and whipped out my electric knife (knowing they would take forever to get to my place)and went to town. So once they showed up the hard parts were done. So as we gave them their final rinse I notice a few more worms that showed up after the first initial rinse. BING BING my first internal alarm went off..now I know most fish get worms.Grouper, blk drum,reds,etc..Ive seen a few here and there And one every now and then...but this was disturbing.Every filet was infested wit worms. Quater size spots or patches on the meat would be covered....Each freakin one... imagine pushing or bending the meat like you would start a shuffle on a deck of cards..when the meat began to bend you could see several individual worm heads poking out..What is this from??Were all scared to eat trout now..Is the world off its axis??Global warming, or a physocitic winter this year??? Any suggestions are very much welcomed as I would love a trout sandwich...

Hey Jason( I think I got you name right), nothing to worry about w the worms. They are an intermediate stage of a tapeworm that can only live in sharks. Shark sheds eggs, they end up in shrimp, then when the trout eats shrimp they develop to the intermediate stage, then when eaten by a shark, they develop into maturity. Most people don't even pick them out. Seems to be more when the water heats up. Hope this helps.
