East Flats

Post by Redbelly »

Got a late start, around 11 am. Fished out in front of Black Rock around the pole. Picked up 1 trout, 1 flounder and 2 rock bass. Caught several exactly 15" trout. Tried at the end of the day to get a red but no luck around some bars. Great day to be out there. ladyfish abound. had several sharks take my jig off. Water is very clear, looked but didn't see any scallops.

Man I saw a lot of boats going wide open through the rock garden. :o

. Clearly they know what they're doing. :???:

Fishin' is the mission.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

Just some friendly advice. Your report doesn't say if you kept the trout but my personal rule is nothing under 15 3/4" goes on ice. We had a trout that solidly measured 15 1/2" on a cooler lid, cloth tape, and also a FL Sportsman law stick. We got checked and the guys says, "Boy this one BARELY made it!" I looked at his metal ruler and the fish was just barely over the 15" mark. I told him we had measured it on 3 different devices and asked if I could check his against ours. All three of the things we used were equal in length and each one was almost a half inch off from his "official" device. He joking said "Well mine is the one that counts..." We had thrown back a 15 1/4" earlier and we sure were glad we did.
His ruler was made of metal and had the departments official logo engraved and the ruler marking were engraved. It looked like something he or the dept had manufactured for them and evidently the measurement was a little off. I've wondered if this was on purpose or not.
