I am looking on some advice on where to take my small boat this weekend where I can take my two kids tubing. Familiar with all the fishing spots but they are just now old enough to try out the tube they got for Christmas. Any advice on where to go would be greatly appreciated. I am in NE Tallahassee. Thanks!

There's going to be so many boats out this weekend I'm not sure there will be a safe place to tube without danger of being run over. For tubing, we go to the Flint river in Bainbridge. Great ramp, big beach to set a tent and BBQ, rope swing, and cool water. When not tubing, you can just hang on the beach. Fun place for watersports.

I was thinking the Wakulla and St Marks above the fort were full of no wake zones. Not very favorable to tubing.
Maybe I was wrong.
I second the Flint, but like he said, THIS weekend, not too good. Boats will be thick. Just would not go down near the lake area tubing with kids. Too many BIG gators....

I hear the Ochlocknee State Park is also a good place but I've never been there tubing myself.

We were there last Thursday, and had the whole place to ourselves. It was NICE! We took the jetskis down Crooked River over to Carrabelle and back. Then came back to the picnic tables at the empty park and had lunch.
I can bet it won't be that nice this weekend!
But yes, you have the whole river to tube in there, and it is really wide in that area.

No way my kids are tubing in the Wakulla/St. Marks rivers this week-end or any other.....State park is where you need to go with kids and still you have to be careful

I agree 100%.
Be careful at the State Park, make sure you go in the correct direction and be cognizant of other boaters as well.

If I put in at the park ramp, I would go on down the river a little to tube. Much less traffic. And by the way, the correct direction is Counter-clockwise around the island. There is a sign at the ramp outlet stating this.
When you leave the ramp outlet, do NOT turn left. Go out and around the island to get to the park beaches.....

That sign refers to vehicle traffic at the boat ramp not the water.

Or, just drop in at Lake Iamonia. Just pulled off of there. Plenty of room to tube on the North end of the lake by K & K Fish Camp.
