I plan on going fishing out of my kayak in shell point. I pulled up good ol' google maps to look at the satelite pictures. In the picture I plan to start in the first area and fish it for a little bit. It looks like its a grassy area. Then if there is no bite I will move over to area 2. Is this where most people fish Shell Point or should I be looking in a completely different area?

You can catch fish there in a yak.It is gassy on both sides of the channel. That's long bar on side 2, I've caught some good fish around it.

I've caught trout from both those areas. Just be careful and watch out for boats in the channel since you will be crossing the channel.

Take an anchor, the current there can be stiff enough to drag you off the spot quick.

Those are reasonable places to start. Lots of ladyfish in the area this past weekend plus sharks- lots of sharks. we also caught short trout.

The only tailing redfish I have ever caught was off of that bar.

I'd also give Spring Creek and Oyster Bay a shot if ya get a chance. I've got into some really nice reds up in there.
