The better half and I are getting together with the daughter and son in law to be on Father's Day. They're in S. Florida and heading this way. They'd like to stay down in Cedar Key for the weekend and we're planning to take the boat with us - 1872 SeaArk CC. Never been there and looking for any good recommendations on areas to avoid and areas to fish. Just reading a bit online it would seem if you don't know the area, it's easy to get into trouble and we'd like to avoid that lol. FS Sportsman had an article on Suwannee and mentioned Salt Creek is about the only well marked area etc....

So anything yall can toss out there is a BIG help.

Cedar Key is a literal maze of channels, keys, oyster and sand bars. Stay in the channels, and you will be fine. If you venture outside of the channels, watch the tides and even better if you can get someone familiar with the area to accompany you. If not, Take it SLOW!

Thanks DT, don't know anyone down there so we'll just go SLOW and stay in the channels.

cedar key is our stomping ground, get a map and find north key and snake key both are great trout areas last weekend we found fish in 3 to 4 foot of water last 3 hours of high and first 3 of low seem to be the best. If you dont have a gps follow the shipping channels to either and fish the flats around there. Some great red fishing around North key when you have enough water to fish. fish the potholes for trout
