Picture of that Higgins boat gives me the cold chills. Too many men were sitting ducks when that ramp fell down. Definitely our best generation.

The Longest Day...

We must never forget!

Its an experience that puts the whole of life into perspective when you visit the military cemeteries in Normandy, France.
Fields and fields of white crosses, perfectly maintained, stretching for miles.

I sat down yesterday morning and viewed an historical newsreel of that day. It showed how men facing horrible machine gun fire from the Germans just kept on coming until they overwhelmed those fortifications. Men crawling over men to throw satchel charges. Folks, there was so much courage shown on that day that it is awe inspiring. I said a prayer for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the free world. My own daddy served in the Pacific, but I knew quite a few men who served on the European front and several who were a part of D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. Most would not talk about those experiences without the glow of a good stiff drink. I salute these men!

Knowing of this sacrifice, it turns my blood cold when I hear our imposter in chief apologizing for America in Europe. When all hope was nearly lost, American men left their farms, their families and their jobs to cross the sea and stomp out tyranny.
