Lanark 6-22

Took my cousin and his 15 year old son to Lanark Saturday morning. Got to the Village Market about 7 and it was already hopping! We get fuel, get boat in the water and head out to Dog Island for some pilchards. Got a bait well full and headed for Turkey Point. The bite was slow but I managed to get a few keeper trout and a 14" flounder between the constant barrage of sharks and sail cats. Decided to head back towards Lanark and check a few docks with little success, so I ran to a dock I haven't fished in 5 maybe 6 years and what a decision that turned out to be. We get there and stake off, and immediately get a small black tip on the hook, I'm thinking great same ol ...., well about that time my cousin is hooked up, I grab the net, take a look to see what he has, a first I think it's a flounder, turns out to be a nice 16-17" triple tail. I've never really targeted them and only ever even seen one on a floating bucket behind Little St. George. I never imagined they'd be around a dock in 4-5 foot of water. A little while later, I get hooked up on a nice 25" red. We are still wading through the sharks, and actually catch the same one twice, we broke the hook shank off in the mouth of a little black tip, not 5 minutes after releasing it we catch him again. After a while, the bite has slowed, I'm thinking of heading to the hill, when I get hooked up, turns out to be another triple tail coming in at 17". Didn't really have a great number of fish, but did end the day with 3 trout all right at 17", 14" flounder,17" triple tail and a 25" red. My cousin and his son only caught sharks, cats and the one triple tail. All in all, it was a good day on the water and we got to the hill just in time to get loaded and rolling before the rain got us.
