Captain Mike's jig head. Good strong, sharp hook with hard paint and the eye had a hole in it, not painted over. Takes a long time to wear one out.

I am always looking for a jig head that is going to hold my gulp in good swimming order even after a few fish?? I found one on the boat ramp, and was impressed with it's design, but have yet to find it?? It had the standard "barbs" to hold the gulp in the "lead head" but also it had barbs on the hook itself. Does anyone know what brand this is??

Slayer Jig Heads.. hooks are sharp at ship, hold the Gulps on nicely and they make a wide variety of sizes and colors. Tis all I'll use.

SLAYER was designed specifically to hold GULP in place.
Made in Jacksonville.

If money is not in the equation- Slayer.
But I picked up some cheaper Mirrolure jig heads for some kids to use and they turned out to be WAY better than expected.
They are unpainted but have wide gap hooks and are about 1/2 the cost of the Slayer.

I like Cotee or Shur-Ketch. Any one with wide-gap hooks and the eye not full of paint works for me.

You can raid the wife's finger nail polish supply and paint them pretty much any color.

I know a guy who makes his own and they've served me very well. If you're a member of the Florida Sportsman Forum (and I know most of you are), his name is TripletailTim. Prices are great, hooks are super sharp, they hold Gulp and other various soft plastics really well, and they've caught me fish. See my flounder report for an example.

The DOA C.A.L's really hold the gulp on there as good as I have seen. They are a little more expensive than the rest but worth it IMO. Now if they figure out a way for the tails of the gulp not to be bitten off...
