Vibrio Vulnificus (They spelled it wrong in the article)
Same thing found in oysters. Had a friend with diabetes lost a leg because of this bacteria. Almost killed him. He just had a small scratch on his foot.
Good thing is it usually does not affect healthy people. Also, I would not call it a "flesh eating bacteria". It gets into the bloodstream and can kill you...

Yes. It's normally in all Gulf waters during the warm months and is not a sign of pollution. Immune compromised people in particular should not consume any raw shellfish during this time that come from the Gulf. It's the reason that the Feds and other states have been trying to shut down oyster harvesting in the summer, as some people can die from consuming the shellfish then.
