Texas catch and release survival statistics

Fodder for the catch and release folks. I'll offer no comments.

90% survival rate when hooked in the mouth.
"In an attempt to increase the abundance of "trophy" spotted seatrout, new slot limit regulations in Texas allow only one fish per person per day over 25".

So, Texas is enacting a slot limit similar to what Florida has had for years. That means that Florida should have PLENTY of Trophy fish fer the catch and release folks ta play with :-D :thumbup: :beer: :beer:

Interesting read. Thanks for posting. So, it is basically tells us that if you don't gut hook them, they should survive? I will save the debate of what the limits are and which ones should be released for others. I am one that follows the regs of the State.

The per person trout limit in Texas is 10 fish 15-25 inches with one over 25 inches allowed.
SO...you could keep 10 at 25 inches in TX.
9 years ago Florida had a 7 fish per person 15-25 with one over 25 allowed.
