Good Evening All -

Over the years I have spent allot of time with my son, and tried to teach him how to catch fish. It is hard to believe we were changing his diapers 18 years ago and it feels like last week. My son is going off to join the US Army. He leaves for Basic Training tomorrow morning (8/12/2013) for Fort Benning, and then on to Fort Sam Houston (SanAntonio TX) for another period of time to learn to be an EMT (or combat medic) (which they now call health services specialist). I am proud of him and his decision to do exactly what I did, and his grandfather did in WWII. He is doing 4 year active duty and a 4 year reserve hitch). I am going to miss him severely. I feel that he will be successful and ready to start FSU when he returns in 4 years.

It's tough watching them leave home and knowing it's gonna be a while before you can put a hand on their shoulder or give em a hug. Went through it myself twice and my oldest is still in the reserves and the veteran of 2 deployments. I have a feeling that he's been set on the right track so have some faith and trust the parenting that you've been able to provide. Thanks for the service that your family has given to us and tell Travis we're ALL pull'n for him and proud of him.

We've been there and done that but it is a tough one. I've sent Travis an email. Thank you, your family and Travis for serving our country. We'll be in prayer for Travis and look forward to hearing of his accomplishments. Please keep us posted.
