I've used these lures a good bit with awesome results. was just wondering if anyone else has used them and had the same, better or not as good results? i first used them over in LA earlier this year on a fishing trip. picked them up at a local store on the way over and the Red's loved them. for the trout they worked great under a cork or off the bottom as normal. whats special about them is they have a Kevlar weave strip running throughout the body so they last a very long time. with the way they stand up, the tail has great action! i would highly recommend them.

yeah, not sure if it's something new, but i did a search and couldn't find anyone on here talking about them. I've had some since around March. they are pricey tho, 7 bucks for 2. but they will last a very long time. I'm still using my first one with the second one still in the package and i know I've caught a few dozen fish on it with no signs of wear. also the hook is a little less stout then i would like, and a slot red will bend it. just straighten it back and its good to go. i believe you can take the hook out and replace it with something stronger i just haven't done it yet

those do look good, how do they hold up do you know? just found out today that WF surplus in Albany, Ga is now carrying those Vudu shrimp. 5.50 a pack which is a pretty good price.

I will wait till I see what some lizardfish and blues do to this before I shell out the bux....

Which one? These Vudu shrimp has a woven Kevlar strip throughout the body. These tails don’t break. Like I said, I’ve used the same one for a few dozen trout now since I’ve had some and with all the pinfish nipping and the trash fish in between, it shows no sign of wear. I still use Gulp as well, but I know in a few dozen trout and other toothy fish here and there I would have gone through 2-3 packs of gulp. This is about 15-20 bucks depending on where you get it. This shrimp doesn't sling off the jig it came with either. I will post a picture of what mine looks like as of today and a picture of the new one that's still in a box.

...but, will the Vudu catch trout? I have bags full of good looking bait that doesn't work well. I know you said you caught trout, I believe you, but does the vudu catch trout as well as the gulp? Some days gulp doesn't even work.

I'll buy a pack when I find them but not for $7.00.

Don't have to look very hard. DOA standard shrimp don't have Kevlar, but they sure do catch trout. And reds. And snook. And flounder. In fact, they're Deadly On Anything. They look like the real thing and are infused with aquaculture grass shrimp for scent. I'm not dismissing Dom's success with the Vudu. As an outdoor writer, I have the opportunity to test a lot of new products and many are quite effective and/or innovative. But with the fall shrimp run beginning, I'm happy to stick with the tried-and-true in this case.

Sliverking- Yes sir, I agree with you on the DOA, I've caught many fish on them as well. i love the airheads DOA released not too long ago. I'm not bashing any baits with this topic, i just wanted to share this lure with everyone who didn't know about it. yes they do seem high but one shrimp will last you what 2-3 bags of gulp will if not longer. i know I'm still using my first one and it doesn't seem like it's throwing in the towel anytime soon!


SS-342- yes sir, it will catch trout along with everything else. i first bought them when i went over to Delacroix, LA back in May of this year, i probably landed 20-30 reds a day during my 4 day visit. not sure if you're familiar with the "shakey head" that most bass fishermen use, it works kinda like that. throw it out and on semi slack line just shake your rod tip. if you have the right action rod, the tail on this shrimp will be outta control. you can also very well use it under a popping cork and do just as well. i only speak on personal experience i have with lures. i believe presentation plays a big role.


Gulp is still plentiful on my boat, i don't use the shrimp much anymore, i normally throw a jerk bait Gulp 99% of the time when i do use Gulp.
