NEW BOAT PURCHASE

Post by What a mess »

I have a buddy that lives around Savanah Ga.
He wants to buy a new boat, cost not an issue.
The sounds there can be rough, he isn't an offshore guy.
The boat needs to be able to be comfortable for family.
He is looking for suggestions, mine was Ranger bay 24'.
I figure if the guys on the Redfish tour use them they're okay.
You guys have great knowledge I would love your opinions.
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

I think the Ranger Bays look good for fishing, but I'd personally would want something with taller sides if I was taking out the family. I like Parkers and Jones Brothers. I think they would suit the Savannah waters well since they are built for the same type of waters in North Carolina.

Here's a fairly new boat that I've been seeing quite a bit of. I've seen them at several dealerships and the price is awesome for what you get. Aluminum trailer and hydraulic jack plate is included from factory. They are made in Louisianna.

Another boat that comes to mind that is Privateer. They can handle more of the rough water.

Recently tested the Contender 25 Bay, just north of Brunswick. There are several in that area and they can handle everything from the bays/sounds to offshore.

Plenty of room and safety features for the family and very fishing-oriented.

The redfish boys use ranger for points...HT3 isn't sponsored by Ranger...one ranger maybe in most of their events.

Second the Pathfinder recommendation from personal experience - great boat, floats skinny enough, handles rough water and has plenty of room and storage. If you look on the Hewes Maverick forum there is a few guides in that area and they used Pathfinders. If I could only have one boat - that would be a Pathfinder 2200
