Aucilla Flood Stage

I noticed that the web site, weather.com , finally took the Aucilla River off of the flood stage warning. How long do you seasoned fellows that fish out of Econfina-Aucilla area feel that it will be before the bite turns out to be good? I'm sure the water is still stained up and prolly lots of fresh water still, but hopefully by October, it will be ok?

My survey crews from Meridian Surveying have been working along the Wacissa River from the headwaters to Goose Pasture all Summer. The Wacissa flows through the slave canal and into the Aucilla. It is still running dark on the lower half, but starting to clear up near the headwaters. The actual level of the river is getting back to normal.

I think it will still be a month or so before the fishing gets good, and that's provided that we don't get additional rain. You can always call JR at his store and get a report.

On the positive side, the water over at Lanark during the NFGFC tournament this past weekend looked better than I anticipated. There were lots of good fish brought to the scales. It is still stained somewhat, and a little cloudy out near the shore side of Dog Isl., but definitely improving.

Thanks Steve, I may call JR soon. I'm sure he's prolly taking folks out for gators right now, but if we don't get any floods, maybe I can go toward end of the month. Thanks again!
