I agree with a couple of comments -

1. There should be more VW's on there. Regardless of which model, I don't know of anybody who has had a reliable one.

2. They must be referring to the newer Pathfinders. A couple of my buddies have had the older ones that we sunk in mud, saltwater, etc and could not kill. Lin at Kevin's has one that is still going.

The unreliability of the Ford Taurus is probably the reason I am married. My current wife drove one when I first met her. She kept breaking down on the side of the road, and I kept coming to get her :-D .

Most of Ford and Cadillac's problems are with the new touch screen entertainment and phone thing they are all putting in vehicles these days. I read that less than 30% of people want them or care to use them but the automakers are putting them in vehicles and linking them with things like the air conditioner. Car makers evidently don't know squat about entertainment computers so they keep going out and when they do you lose much more than just your radio.

I'd say from my experence, any of the newer Nissans are junk. Bought a new 1992 Nissan Frontier for my son to use for college. After four years of abuse and 320,000 miles, it still ran good. I bought a 2000 Frontier for myself, and it was the biggest piece of garbage I ever owned. One thing after another until I got rid of it with only 110,000 miles on it. Stayed broke down.
Same story with my son who bought a 2003 full size nissan pick-up. Also a pile of garbage. Never, never own another Nissan again!

Never pay more than $3,500 for a used vehicle, drive for three or more years and you have your money's worth. If it breaks down, you can leave it and the keys beside the road and buy another. :-D

EXACTLY!

One good example. I have a 2005 Dodge caravan that one of the door lock buttons will not lock the doors. Now, back in the ealier years, just a simple switch replacement would have done the job. But NO, the fix, not a bad switch, it is a bad BCM (Body control module), at about 400 bux.

Now my doors on this van do not lock or unlock any better than the older ones that did not have the BCM computer, but now I have to pay 400 bux instead of 10 bux for a switch.

THIS, is what is wrong with the auto industry today...

And if they would only make these "engineers" actually work on what they design. (Take the bumper off for a headlight change?)

HAVE A COUSIN WITH A 2006 TARUS, SHE IS MED. SALES LADY, SHE HAS PUT 278,000 MILES ON THAT THING AND IT STILL RUNS LIKE A NEW ONE. SHE HAD TO HUNT BUT FOUND ONE WITH A 5 SPEED GEAR BOX , GETS 39- 40 MPG, CHANGES OIL EVERY 20,000 IF IT NEEDS IT OR NOT ON MY RECOMMENDATION. SHE HAD TO REPLACE TRUNK LID LOCK, AND 4 SETS OF TIRES AND 1 CLUTCH AND PRESSURE PLATE, SHE COVERS 3 STATES AND IN ALL KIND OF TRAFFIC SITUATIONS, MOST OF THE MILEAGE HAS BEEN PUT ON USING THE INTERSTATES BUT STILL HAS TO TAKE OFF ON SMALL BACK ROADS IN ALL KIND OF SHAPE TO SERVICE THE DOCTORS AND DRUG STORES IN THE SMALLER TOWNS. I WOULD SAY THAT ANY CAR THAT CAN RUN THAT MANY MILES WITH NO MORE REPAIRS THAN SHE HAS HAD IS A GREAT CAR AND IT IS MADE IN THE USA.

I dissagree Steve although I can't speek for the new model the 2009 Passat and 2010 Jetta TDI I own have been super both cases I've put tires on and oil changes I think I had one interior issue on the Passat that was covered under warranty. the TDI consistently get over 40mpg no matter the drive type or effort it is a 6 speed manual. the Passat is just plain awesome to drive and will snap your head back at any speed and consistently get 26- 30 mpg. I have a neighbor who bought a new Ford escape with the computerized screen and he has had it at the dealer at least 20 times I have a car 4 years older and been there half a dozen and thats because I have them change the oil.

Had an 04 xterra and it was a good truck, just sucks on gas tho, one of the reasons we got rid of and it and we needed something bigger. The 05-12 have transmission problems with the 5sp(transmission parts is what I do) very expensive to fix and the radiators are usually the culprit
