I got a new HP officejet 6600 and have Quickbooks Pro 08. They don't want to play nice together. I had a computer tech for 15 yrs. After 2 tries, he won't return my call. From Quickbooks, I can't email an estimate or print one. I live nw of havana and need someone to come out here, please. 850-508-0634.

Need more info!! What OS are you running "XP, windows 7..."? How are you connecting to the printer "wireless, USB..."? Does it print and/or fax from other programs? Does the printer do anything at all when you try to print to it?

xp, usb and it will print from other programs. It wants to use port lpt1. We had it on another port and was working but the next day went back to lpt1.

Try renaming the printer to something short "6600" and run through the print setup in QB again, make sure to double check the correct "short" name is chosen and that the properties of the printer points towards the correct port. Let us know what happens.

Open the Printers Folder in the Control Panel, right click the HP Officejet 6600 Series printer and chose Rename, then change the name to be just 6600

Did ya get the printer renamed?

These problems are known issues using QB 2008 with newer versions of Windows. Update your Quickbooks.
