Good morning folks.

Pa, I'm not quite as old as you, and I wasn't around on December 7, 1941, but my father was. He died about 18 months ago. There are very few of you WW II vets left. As a result I think the American people have lost sight of the significance of Pearl Harbor, the aftermath of that day, and why America is a free nation today. I pray the American people never become complacent enough to forget, or not recognize just how costly our freedom is and has been. I'm honored to say I've had the privilege of meeting you, and spending a little time with you.

You may not recall, but the first time we met in person you gave me a gift. I still have it, and it's quite large now. Many folks have commented about the crepe myrtle in my yard. When people comment I smile and tell them where that crepe myrtle came from. Thank you for the gift, and the living reminder I have of knowing someone that was there on December 7, 1941.

Well said, Tin Can. I haven't forgotten the courage and sacrifice made by The Greatest Generation (thanks, Pa, and the rest who served and supported). In fact, being an Army Brat, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be here ( i.e., my parents would not have met) if it weren't for the Jap Attack and the ensuing war. I like to think a little (or a lot) of good came out of the whole SNAFU.
