Thought you all might like some game camera photos. Yesterday I replaced a feeder he tried pulling down so I hung a replacement higher this time (4th time he's tore up one of mine). I’ve watched squirrels shimmy across upside down along the horizontal 1/8” cable I use to hang them and I can see where the bear climbed up the tree and put his weight on the cable to inch out there. Glad it didn’t fail and the feeder crash down.

Between St Augustine and Jacksonville- just to the west of Palencia near Gulf Village across the road from 12 Mile Swamp.

Thanks for sharing. Not experienced at this sort of thing, but we're getting a game camera soon. Lots of deer, coyotes, coons, cats, ect in our little bit heaven. Darn dog keeps everything hidden in the thick woods just outside the fence. Plenty of deer tracks, large and small.

Is there another critter with another set of eyes to the right of the bear? What is that? A coon?

Nope, just two bolt heads on the winch.

Last night I could see only the eyes shining but this morning I saw the bear. Must be my eyes?

Back when my dad was a full-time bee keeper, he said the only way he found to keep bears out of his hives was to build a small 4 strand electric fence with heavy corners and high tension barbed wire in place of the bare electric fence wire. Modern fence chargers can last for 2-3 months on a single charge with a 12 volt deep cycle battery. The barbs help penetrate their insulated coat and deliver the shock. (also works for containing goats and sheep supposedly)
Short of that, the only thing that ever worked was strychnine, and that's no longer legal even with a permit....................
