Went to Talquin early morning and put in at Williams Landing. Went across to fish Little River. I fished the right side and picked up a couple bass. I tried the topwater baits, but nothing doin'. I was really surprised. The majority of fish were taken on a 1/4 oz. spinnerbait. Biggest was about 3lbs. I also caught two fishing the points with a carolina rigged watermelon senko. I am still attempting to figure this lake out. Between all the stumps, and general lack of aquatic vegetation, it's a lake that I reckon will take time to learn. Anyone who has a knowledge of the bass and their behavior on this lake, don't hesitate to holler at me if your going. I can hold my own most days, but know I'm not fishing this lake to it's potential.

I haven't fished Talquin enough to learn it, yet. I've only been fishin it 30 years.

Brinner, you picked up on some key points. Very little desirable vegitation, and stumps. Very simply, if you don't find veggies, fish the stumps. What really makes this lake difficult is you might catch fish in 3 feet of water along a shoreline today, and tomorrow they'll be in 8 to 10 feet of water.

Go back to your books and read about structure fishing. Talquin is a man made lake. There's tons of structure out there. Some obvious, some not so obvious. I'll tell you that I very seldom fish a shoreline on Talquin. Get away from the banks, and watch your bottom reader.
