NOAA Fisheries Announces the 2014 Red Snapper Recreational Season in the Gulf of Mexico
The 2014 Gulf of Mexico red snapper recreational season will be 40 days, opening at 12:01 a.m., June 1, 2014, and closing at 12:01 a.m., July 11, 2014.

That's pretty slick how they start and stop it to eliminate two weekends of fishing at the start and end. That gives 5 weekends. Throw in some wind or storms on a couple of weekends and most folks will be lucky to get in two trips. This won't end until the states take control and get NOAA out of fishing.

It will definitely be interesting to see what FL and the other Gulf states decide to do. I hope they all stick together and tell the feds to stuff their snapper season rules. I'm pretty sure NOAA will end up shortening the season after the states weigh in.
