Spent my morning drinking coffee in the kitchen, listening to gunshots on Lake Jackson, waiting for my girls to wake up.
Looking forward to a great Christmas eve- Service at St.Peters, Fire in the fireplace, setting out the Little's gifts under the tree.
Happy Jesus's Birthday to you all!

How are you all spending hour day?
Looking for something special under the tree?

I'm in charge of cooking the collard greens outside in the big pot on the propane burner tonight. I'm hoping to keep this Christmas a simple one. Hopefully the step kids (9 and 16) will have a great time. Tonight me and the wife are going to read Chapter 1 of A Simple Christmas by Mike Huckaby to them. It tells the story of Christ's birth as it probably really happened, not like the story you see in most church plays. It tells how Jesus could have come to the world in as grand of a display as will have ever been seen but instead was born to a very frightened teenage virgin girl and her very trusting husband in a barn with animals and all the smells and other things large animals leave behind.

Our niece and her husband cooks Christmas Eve Breakfast for anyone who will come (several hundred did/do come) and we ate with them. It is their Christmas!

This evening we'll all go to our Christmas Eve Church service and the family will be together tomorrow to celebrate our Lord's birthday.

Thank you Lord Jesus.

Put 2 Boston Butt's on the smoker for an 8 hour soak this morning, kids are older now so no toy's to assemble in the wee hours anymore! :-D

We should all remember the "reason for the season".

Happy birthday to Jesus and my late father who would have been 76 tomorrow. salute3

Merry Christmas BBF friends!

Quail hunt Thursday after a Cordele Pool room scramble dog. My brother has to have his fix of the pool room on each visit..., I hope to get down to Econfina after that. How's the water around Econ? and Aucilla?

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE. ALL OF OUR BROOD HAVE GONE TO DENVER TO SKI. WE JUST DID NOT THINK WE COULD DO ANYMORE OF THAT SKIING. BABE AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH GREAT CHILDREN AND GRAN'S. WE ARE HEADIN TO PLANTATION , FLA. TO BE WITH BABE'S SISTER, SHE LOST HER HUSBAND EVERETT THIS PAST YEAR, WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GOOD TO HAVE ANOTHER MARINE CLOSE BY AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR TO MEET ANY NEEDS THAT MAY OCCURE. BABE AND I HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR SO LONG IT SEEMS LIKE WE WILL LIVE FOREVER HERE ON EARTH. WE HAVE SEEN SO MANY CHRISTMASES TOGETHER, WATCHED OUR GOOD FRIENDS GO ON TO BE WITH THE LORD, WE KEEP THINKING , WHY ARE WE STILL HERE, I GUESS WE WILL FIND OUT ONE OF THESE DAYS. SINCE WE ARE OLD AS DIRT WE HAVE SEEN MANY GREAT THING HAPPEN, AND SORRY TO SAY THE LAST 4-5 YEARS MANY BAD THINGS HAPPEN, ESPECIALLY WITH THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR COUNTRY. I DID NOT THINK THAT THE THINGS WE HAVE SEEN IN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS WOULD EVER HAPPEN TO SUCH A GREAT COUNTRY AS OUR. HOPE THE LORD WILL FORGIVE US FOR LETTING IT HAPPEN, WE SHOULD HAVE STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE AND GOTTEN IT STRAIGHTEN OUT BEFORE
NOW. WE MUST MAKE SOME DRASTIC CHANGES IN THE NEXT YEAR AND GET OUR COUNTRY BACK TO A CHRISTIAN NATION AGAIN.
HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT CHRISTMAS AND A BETTER NEW YEAR. THANK YOU JESUS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR US.

Bad storms here for the past 48 hours have disrupted things a bit.
I spent this morning replacing part of my garage roof and re-erecting fence panels, with the help of some farmer friends, these guys always have spare bits of everything and are generous with their labour.
All trains have been been cancelled due to flooding, or trees on the teracks, so I had a couple of hundred mile round trip to collect my daughter who is here for Christmas.
Roads closed , but no signed diversions caused chaos everywhere, but we are luckier than most.
No electricity in a lot of areas and homes being evacuated as rivers flood, it will be a sad Christmas for some.

Carol service and midnight mass tonight , then home for some hot chocolate and ready for tomorrows roast turkey fest, all great stuff.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas. :-)

Sorry to hear of your troubles Cran. Stay Safe.

Started Christmas yesterday with all the family gathering at my sisters for a late lunch. Then off to First Baptist for our annual candlelight service. Beautiful evening.

Only the 19 year old here with us in the house this year and she wants us to act like she is still 6 or 7. :smt005

I am sitting here sipping coffee, reading and putting up with my daughter's cat who wants to sit on my keyboard to be stroked. Everyone else is still snoozing.

The tree is overrunning with gifts. Going at 10 AM to load my mother into the van and start her on her visit to the kids in town.

Otherwise, we will read from the Gospel of Luke this morning and share with each other. The son and daughter-in-law in Atlanta who both had to work yesterday and tomorrow are going to face time us sometime this morning so we can see their smiling faces.

Merry CHRISTmas to all!
