The Big Bend Classic is scheduled for May 2 & 3.
This is a great event for a good cause. All proceeds go to the Wakulla Senior Center Meals On Wheels.
Last year we had entries from South Carolina to Texas and even one from Canada.
Lots of fun, lots of prizes and good food. Prizes consist of kayaks, fishing tackle, cash and much more.
Saltwater, freshwater and youth divisions.
Captains meeting Friday night (mandatory attendance) fish Saturday, awards and low country boil Saturday after fishing.

.
Camping available at the3Y Ranch for moderate fee.

Already registered, but the rules/calendar only say May 2-3, John. Unless they changed it, the seafood boil and awards will all be held after fishing and judging ends Saturday.
Great event and a lot of fun.

Can anybody clarify this for me?...
Flier & website home page say the tourney is May 2 & 3.
Rule #7 on the website says mandatory captain's meeting is 7pm, May 3 (Saturday), which would make one think the tourney is Sunday.
If tourney is Saturday, that conflicts with NFGFC May tourney (plus I'd miss a Friday capts meeting due to State Track Meet).
I registered for the tourney on the basis of Rule #7 being accurate.

Correction: Low country boil is Saturday after the fishing.
Captains meeting is Friday night. The rules are being updated. May 3 2013 is a carry over from last year.
There is a point of contact listed in rule #10 if you wish to try for an exception.

Still anxiously waiting a reply on my request for working around the fact that I'm out of town all day Friday for the High School State Champs track meet in Jacksonville, so I miss the Capts meeting. I already signed up, and am willing to do whatever is okay to be legal for the event. No response from event staff, despite numerous calls. Help!

My wife is going to the Captain's meeting for me while I'm in Jax Friday night. Arrangement approved by event officials. THANKS, but...
...If I don't place, I foresee a Honeydew list that will last all summer!

Just wanted to give some kudos to all the folks that put on this event. Had a wonderful time. Awesome food and fun. I'd paddle a bath tub before I would miss this next year.

There's a smattering of results (as of last night) on the FCKA site. I was totally shut out with a 3.5lb (19in) largemouth bass and 23.5" trout. It took overslot reds to win prizes (remember, this was a photo tourney), and the money trout were 26+ inches. Brad Kirns got 3rd place bass with a 20 incher. Rumor was winning bass was about 9lbs. Next year, I'm spending the whole day on Lake Jackson or Talquin or Piney Z. Chasing fresh & salt species on same day was a dumb plan!
This post should hopefully prompt corrections & more results.
