fishin for a fry - Panacea

A couple of us hit Panacea to catch some fish for an office fish fry. The sacrifices we make for others! The goal was to troll stretches in state waters looking for good grouper bottom ahead of opening day and to load the boat with grunts and black bass. Mission accomplished we caught over 50 fish to keep (mostly grunts) and 10 gag grouper to throw back. To my surprise my buddy catches a nice keeper Red Grouper on a trout rod no less. We fished 30-40' for the most part on cut bait. Seas were flat calm!
The boat clean-up was serious after the grunt fest!!

Nice report, glad someone is taking advantage of those pretty spring days. 50 grunts & seabass, plus that surprise Red Grp will always make them happy. I must confess, occasionally, when asked "Wow, that fish is terrific! What kind of fish is that?"

I would reply, "S N A P P E R"!! God Bless those grunts & seabass!

It is! It just takes the right weather! Sea bass & grunts are seldom in the lock jaw mode. Now Grp, they're not as easy.
