Thanks. That is the way I have set mine up also. Learned it many years ago from an old timer. Your comments and illustrations were excellent. Like the looks of the site.
Keep the articles coming.

Looks good. Another good tip when using a ct. if you are using braid. Tie a 6-8" fluro leader above the cork to your mainline. This will solve the problem of the braid wrapping around the top swivel of the ct.

Salty Gator is right on with the short Mono/Fluorocarbon line tied above the cork onto the line. That works!

Great article but don't forget Captain Mike's jig heads. I used them and they are excellent.

Barry I like the new site! Thank you also for starting off with some articles... couple of my tips for each article: First on surf fishing if at all possible find and get some sputnik or satellite sinkers, rig as Barry indicated but substitute for pyramid Image also when using the colored beads look for the coquina shells on the beach Image try to match the hatch so to speak then make sure you are casting into the surf where the water is "breaking" this is important as this is where the Pompano are feeding on the shells breaking on surf.

Second if you are fishing a popping rig in deeper than 3 feet of water with LIVE bait, I urge you to tie a secondary swivel a foot above your hook or jig head attach a small 1/4 to 3/4 egg or wormweight sinker above this swivel this keep bait in the lower 1/3 of the water column and produce more strikes. also when fishing live please let fish eat for at least as many seconds as the bait is long IE: a 4 inch pinfish wait at leas a count of 4 one thousand before reeling slack and lifting rod to tighten up on fish not a hard jerk.

Keep up the good work and I'll try and get offshore article for you as soon as possible!

Joe

I like the coquina idea...

Do the sputnik sinkers hold that much better? I always thought they were really for rocky areas.

Night and day on the sinkers Barry, a pyramid basically rolls right along with the surf it's not much more effective in surf than a bank sinker, the wires penetrate the sand and stick then when you reel in they retract. Oh and they cast like a bullet!.Stock up on beads at the Michael's and have different colors it will make a difference.
