A friend Kyle and I hit the fingers at sunrise (7:45am). It was cloudy and in the low 60s for the first half of the morning. Caught our first bass around 8:30am on the 4th finger. 2 pounder. As we were walking to the 6th finger we saw a guy in a kayak lugging a huge bass onto finger 5. We later found out that it was an 8lb bass! By 9:30 the sun began to cut through the clouds. We hit the 6th finger and after the first cast I landed a 4lb 2oz bass! Whew, beat my Piney Z record! We made it down to the land bridge around 10am and landed a 3lb bass! All bass were caught on a weighted Texas rigged Bass Pro Shim-e-stick Ocklochonee Magic color. Tight lines!

4.2lb!

3lb +

I dropped my son off there yesterday in his one-man pelican boat. He caught several nice ones. Picked him up right before the rain struck.

Piney Z is a perfect example of what catch and release can do in a very short time. With all the poaching going on, I wonder when/if they will ever need to allow bass to be kept. Right now its a real joy, even if its a little crowded.
