St Marks NWR - 06 Apr 2014

Post by Terrier »

Fished the wash bar today from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM - windy cloudy and foggy to start but the wind moderated by noon. Had a good day, not so much with numbers but size - ended up with:

23" trout caught on a pearl/green polarflash clouser
2 16" Spanish on same fly (snagged another one and lost a few more to cut-offs)
21" trout on a white/pink/chart. ostrich and marabou clouser type fly
26" redfish on an Olive/chart/tan clouser
17" trout on a tan rabbit/estaz 'something or other'

I brought home a large trout and a spanish and released everything else.

A few pics:

26" redfish (my largest):

The redfish and large trout fought well. Activity was sporadic, with most fish caught early. There was a lot of activity with feeding fish - prob. spanish - at times.
