Dad, Cody, and I decided to give em a whirl Saturday. We pushed off from lanark with the rest of the flotilla about 7:45 Saturday morning. First things first we looked for bait, and WTF has happened to the pinfish and sea grass? Couldn't find any grass nor pinfish. Tried for an hour and boated 4

. Guess all the freshwater or the dark stained water has not allowed light penetration to the bottom to allow the grass to grow. About 10 we said the heck with it and took off for 30 feet. Everyone has been saying trolling is the only thing going right now but we decided to be different and bottom fish. It was a bit bumpy on the way out but calmed nicely as the day went on. First spot yielded grunts and sea bass but no grouper. Pulled the anchor quick and ran to the second spot. Dropped the hook and what do ya know, found emmmm

! Wide open bottom fishing bite for 15 minutes. Cody and I boated our 4 gags in like 5 or 6 drops. Not to be outdone dad showed us "boys" as he call us how It's done. He put two solid gags at 27" and 28" in the boat in short order. Well, it's 12:40 and we have what we came for so we decided to head in. Cody couldn't stand it and had to drop one more time before we pulled anchor. As if trying to prove us he knew it would happen, he pulls a nice red grouper over the side. His next drop he got absolutely owned by what was most likely a stud gag. Stayed another 10 minutes but it seemed our players had left the field. All fish were caught on dead LYsHeaded in, loaded the boat, and got her home to shell island in st marks. Had fun and happy we could put some fresh fish on the table! Now...time to harass some trout/redfish
