We fished for pinfish all over the place around Panacea in the trashfish tourney last weekend. Only ones we caught were inside the long bar at Shell point but they were fairly thick there.

Seems like all the bait fish are slow to come in this year. I looked for some pilchards around dog island 2 weeks ago and did'nt see the first one.

I think all the fresh water is moving them around. Saw finger mullet near shore but had to get out to find pins.

Like bman said....lots of fresh water.
Went out last week and found a few on the flats looking for gag candy, but not enough to keep trying...the few we had got smashed though...
I expect an influx any day now...I've seen herds of them bolting up the river in springtime...one throw and your good to go...

Thank you men. We will put a few traps out around the shoals and see if any are at home and ill report back. With all the spanish and small kings around surely the bait is nearby.

The pinfish are very scattered on the shoals. Very few areas have a lot of grass
