Thinking of giving it a shot offshore of IP Friday. I haven't been out of there in a few years I was just wandering the status of the shoal? I've bumped bottom there before and I see it's going to be a low tide Friday AM???

I haven't been since late summer, but for the past couple years the shoal has remained fairly steady. I think the best exit route is slight more west than the latest chart would suggest. Also, pull up Google maps- they just posted a new ortho from this winter.

The key is to make the turn across the bar and to head due south- do not follow the angle of the pass out as that will lead you over a wide portion of the bar. Our egress/ingress looks something like this:

Glad to see new Google maps. Check out Money Bayou just west of Indian Pass. What the heck is coming out of that place into the Gulf?

Thanks!! Hopefully I will be able to upload a few success pics over the weekend. I have a house rented on the cape for the weekend and I'll be fishing offshore fri and the bay sat/sun. The ONLY reason I'm chancing IP is that hopefully I can pick up some gags legally. Thanks again!

Plenty of good bottom in that area. If you ever need a fishermen, I'm available seven days a week.... in decent weather.

Had a blast...didnt see any reds but one of my friends did and shed some light on me so needless to say i will be back after them as soon as work allows.
