Hey all, I'm interested in having a pole barn built. I've done google searches and half the companies that I've looked at when i call for an estimate the number no longer works. Two haven't returned phone calls after multiple calls (business must truly be booming for them to not call folk back). I have a quote from one company and then was able to talk to another and they said they'd give me a call later this afternoon with an estimate.

Anyway, the two that I've actually talked to are Cowboys Way Construction and Southeast Portable Buildings (Mike there was very helpful). I'd like several estimates...

Are there other firms that people here have used that they have liked? Names and phone numbers for those places?

Are you talking about an actual pole barn (wooden poles/posts) or one of the metal prefab kits?

Because I'm such a nice guy, I did the dirty work for you...

I got mine from Panhandle Salvage in Bonifay. They were excellent to work with. http://www.panhandlesalvage.com/

I had a metal building constructed by Southeastern. They were honest and fast. There is another guy named Mike who does their building pad and concrete work who is good too. I have his number if you need it.

I have used him for some work at my church and for land clearing associated with my surveying business. Let me know if you need his number.

My building was a 20x30 metal building with two roll up doors on the front. Be careful about all of your permits. Growth Managment did not want to close out my permit because I did not get a termite inspection for my metal building sitting on a concrete slab...

Gulf coast lumber in Woodville has pole barn packages and can probably suggest someone to build.

My buddy used this guy. They built it in a day last hunting season. Looks great and was the best price for what he wanted built. 24x24 if I remember correctly. 6x6 poles, steel trusses with metal roof.

You could take a year or two gathering all that you need and build it with help from friends. That's what I did and built a 24x36 for $150.00

Steve, I would be interested in the number for the guy who did you slab work. I've got someone coming to give me an estimate today but I would like more than one estimate.

micci man....it only cost you $150?? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm and where do you find them laying around...I mean buy....such cheap materials....though I do like good finds, I don't want to wait a few years to gather enough to do the barn...

I got really lucky ... Got the poles from Talquin (free), trusses and tin from a guy that just wanted them hauled off his property and we cut the beams (4"x7"x36' out of green/treated power poles) at a buddies sawmill. The $150 was just hardware to put it all together.
