Mexico Beach Fishing HELP

Good Morning,

Planning on heading out this weekend again. (Third trip of the year). We went out of Mexico beach fishing first weekend of April (cold snap and rain) and caught nothing. We also went out first weekend of May (weekend of all that heavy rain and water temp dropped 7 degrees overnight) and only caught two blue runners. Maybe part of the problem to this point has been the weather? We are driving a 3 hour one way trip to get there so we are looking to catch some fish this time!

I've since upgraded my fish finder to the Lowrance Elite 7. I've got all of the public numbers loaded into it. We are looking to catch some snapper, AJ's, beeliners, etc. Any info on some good public reefs to hit up? Do i need to be targeting the groups that are 70 ft + depth?

Also, the marina hasn't really had live bait yet (have bull minnows in for now but no gaurantee by this Saturday). Where are some good places to search around for bait? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

My friend who is my normal buddy boat when going offshore was at MB this past weekend. They limited on ARS on both days and caught mangrove and AJs and then some kings trolling around the car bodies site, I know he was in the 65'-70' range and inside the 9 mile line, if you've got the public numbers look for the deeper ones to start. He was using frozen cut bait for the snappers some on bottom but some of the other boats were chumming so they also caught some free lining in the slick. He caught 15+ AJs on topwater plugs trying to get one legal for the box.

There were some pictures on FB from the MB Marina where people were catching ARS on some of the closer or more shallow reefs allegedly...

He also got stopped by FWC, said they were very pleasant, didn't board just checked coolers and license and were on their way.

Some moron ran across his lines while he was trolling ans almost spooled him before he could get it cut despite him yelling and trying to wave him off so watch out for the wackos!

That's what I have found so far the Car bodies site and tower sites are pretty hot. I think the weather was just against us the past two times we went out. Considering I'm driving 3 hours from South Georgia, the cost of fuel for the truck and boat, etc etc I will be more picky about going before the weather gets warmed up good.

I'll check out the car body sites and maybe a few of the deeper sites if the car site has no luck.

Thanks again.
