why thumbs down Benji?

I'm not at all up to speed on this one, but $1.5M less in government spending sounds good. My boat and your yak aren't getting stuck. Off shore guys aren't allowed to keep fish anyway. Who is hurt by not dredging. I have a guess based upon Crum's disapproval.

I have a feeling that just because the 1.5 million isn't being spent here doesn't mean it's not being spent somewhere.

And I know it's getting harder to fish offshore, but some of us fill the freezer w grouper and cobia( probably no ars for me this year) and let all our trout and reds swim free. I'm afraid harsher offshore regs are making our favorite flats more crowded

I get it. The offshore comment was tongue and cheek.

Shell Point, Mashes Sands, and Spring Creek are the ramps referenced. If you're in a big enough boat you can't use the channel then pick a different launch (eg. St. Marks or Panacea). Even my boat can't get out certain launches on certain tides (doesn't happen often), but I don't think we need to spend tax payer dollars to rectify.

My new canal dredging company was relying on that contract.......................
Your tax dollars were gonna make me a rich man.

In all honesty, I'm not up to speed on this one either. This is the first I've heard of it. I don't know where the money is supposed to come from (BP, Feds, State?) I just assumed it's something the people of Wakulla wanted. I don't use any of those ramps, so I don't know if it's needed or not. Like Salty Gator, I believe the money is going to get spent whether it's spent in Wakulla or somewhere else, and there's a good chance it will end up being spent in a county with more registered voters than Wakulla. All else being equal, I'd rather see it spent on North Florida than on the clusterf^&* that is South Florida.

I'm with ya on the offshore comment Brian. It's terrible, you can barely keep anything. If it wasnt for the state water gag season, my freezer would be empty( or maybe just full of redfish and trout :D ). But other than the ramp canal, I'm not sure what needs to be dredged at Mashe. The channel from spring creek out to oyster bay is really shallow in a couple of spots and could possibly benefit from a little dredging. I agree it's not the most important thing to spend money on, but I'd rather see it spent here than on a similar project down south
