. Not a whole lot to report today. The gulf was like a bathtub. Slick calm and with hot(82degrees) dirty water. And the fish were not biting good at all. We wound up with 3 trout, 2 flounder, 1 Seabass and a blue. Oh and lots of stinking sailcats. But it was good to be on the boat. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work. Redbelly you do any good later?

Hey, you guys gave it a shot!!! Thanks for the report.. And you guys didn't have very good tides to fish....

I always thought a incoming tide was good. Why was the tides not good? Can you explain?

Just by looking at the tides today and the weather. I thought is was gonna be a great fishing day, but my father in law says you don't want to fish right on the full moon. Two days before and two day after is what he used to say.

Some days are like that. Makes you appreciate the good ones. It happens to us all. Humble pie isn't all that good eating but often times we have to take a serving. I learn more on bad days than good days but I sure like the good ones the best!

There are people that say gafftops eat better than bluefish

We wound up with a trout, a flounder, and a rock bass. One boat said they limited on trout out by the bird rack. Another boat with 3 guys were over by rock ilse and had half a limit in 5' water.
There was not activity as I could tell according to the feeding times. At least I wasn't sitting at the house.

Guess you got the new flats slam. Got some for dinner and out of the house..makes a good day for sure. I saw that lone boat by the birdrack. Figured they looking for cobia.

Hey, H&M, Next time you catch a really big sailcat, keep it and instead of skinning it just fillet it like you would a bass or any other good-sized fish. And cut the red strip away from the meat, it isn't good. Fry it up just like you would a channel catfish, they aren't bad.

That slime makes me hesitant about putting one in my cooler. Guess I could scrape it off first.

I have had people tell me they are good.

I've eaten them after hearing enough times that they are good and deciding one day I wasn't going home empty handed. They eat okay. I'd rather have a flounder, but if someone served me sailcat for dinner, I wouldn't turn up my nose at it.

My fishing wasn't the best today either... off of Bald point. We caught a shark, several ladyfish, and catfish. We did manage to take home one trout, one spanish mackerel, and a whiting. They weren't biting much, I spent the whole day out there. I lost a few to sharp teeth and spit hooks too.
