Does anyone have one? I am looking at an 18', with a 115 hp. How do they ride? How shallow do they float?
Thanks

take a quick peak through this search list - a lot of comments about the sea-chaser boat series. Looks like mostly good things.

What 115 does it have back there? Merc? Yammy? Suzi?

I have a 186RG. Boat does great in rougher seas. Floats in about 8 inches of water if motor is up. I have it powered with a 90 hp and that is plenty of hp for it in my opinion unless you are a speedfreak. Gets on plane fast and runs about 42 mph WOT. I did have to go to a 19 pitch prop from the 17 to get the higher speed, and did not seem to make any difference in low end at all.

Just remember that this is only an 18 ft boat, so not really made for 4 foot seas, although I have been caught in them and was very comfortable in the way the boat handled it. But I do love being able to get skinny with it in the shallows with a boat that can go out further than a flats skiff can. I quite a few times have gone out 15 to 20 miles for grouper and it handled fine.

Would I buy one again...definitely. Have had no issues with hull at all. Only problem I ever had was a bad gas hose due to ethanol.

Oh, mine is a 2002 hull.

It has a 115 merc optimax. DT I just like the deck style on the flats boat. I mostly fish inshore, and it will work for the freshwater fishing I like to do.

Not the flats model, but I recently tested the 210 Bay for Salt Water Sportsman and was pleasantly surprised.

Here's the link to the article if you want to compare:
