Finally, a Decent Scallop Report...

I ran over to Port St. Joe last weekend with a couple friends from out of town and managed to have a pretty good day of scallop fishing.
We put in at the state park and headed south until we ran out of water. Then we jumped out into a jungle of deep seagrass and started feeling our way along the bottom about 1.5 feet deep.
It's almost impossible to see any scallops in that jungle, but if you can deal with wallowing in waist deep grass and fishing by braille, you'll find all the scallops you need.
Be warned, there are about 3 urchins for every scallop, so water shoes are a good idea.
I kind of like the urchins, personally. They keep out a lot of the riff raff.
