Here's a chance to help preserve a little piece of Big Bend history. A benefit BBQ will be held at Reeves Fish Camp, 16000 Reeves Landing Road, Tallahassee, on Lake Miccosukee to help keep the lights on. In 1909, Reeves Landing and Fish Camp was started, and been operated continuously by the Reeves family. In the hundred plus years, the fish camp has survived natural disasters, economic depressions, lake problems and more. But now, thanks to the combined efforts of the State of Florida (FWC drawdown for 2-plus years) and the Tax Man, the camp is about to go under. Eli Reeves, last of the clan, has sold off everything and has been reduced to gathering and selling scrap and junk just to keep the lights on. He's fought the good fight, but is now out of ammo and about to be overrun. The good fishing is finally about to come back, but he's down to throwing rocks at the enemy tanks. In an effort to keep his camp operating, some friends have organized a Benefit BBQ for this coming Sunday, September 28, from 3-6 p.m. There will be live music by Byrd Asbell and friends, and good old country BBQ with all the fixings. It's free, but donations are requested. Here's a chance to help hold on to a piece of Big Bend and Lake Miccosukee history.

For those like me who can not make the bbq, is there somewhere we could send a donation to help out?

Dang, I just saw this post or I would have good down there yesterday, just moved back out that way and gonna be hitting there a lot more. Really would like to see it stay open, been there several times, some great people
