After dodging an artillery shell with Hurricane Odile last month (direct hit from Cat. 4 storm), the 2014 edition of the Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament is underway. A total of 127 boats will be competing for more than $2.1 Million in prize money over the next three days.

You can follow all the action at http://www.bisbees.com with daily blogs, photo galleries and live scoring. Here's a sample...
And yes, before someone asks, it is hard work but someone has to do it.

Great ending to an emotional week. The Los Cabos community really got a boost from all the tournament activity (charter bookings, bait, hotels, restaurants, etc.). Will go a long way towards recovery from Hurricane Odile.

A team fishing for a charity that supports orphaned boys caught the largest qualifying fish, a 385-pound blue. The $252,000 winnings are being donated to Casa Hogar.

Another team that has paid its dues for more than a dozen years won the biggest payout: $1.62MM. Sporty Game was entered across the board in all the jackpot categories ($71,000).

The Bisbee family also hosted a group of Iraq/Afghan wounded vets through Rivers of Recovery, who fished and had a good time. Got the opportunity to meet some very special service members.

Year 34 is in the books.
