You think that is scary, you need to be at the mouth and look out on the flats when it is like that! You may never want to go out again, LOL.

My Dad says it looks like another planet out there with all the rocks and mud. Would love to see some pics from the mouth this morning.
What was the low tide today??

Plenty of water! If it'll float it'll go!

That's why I'm insured with a $250 deductible.

My G3 just floats right on through Ecofina on the lowest winter tides

What's the problem? Looks like perfect conditions to go wadefishing.

Waderfishing? I've not tested the bottom. Is the mud firm enough for that or does it suck your boots off?
and how bout that gator that lives just across from the ramp? I'd hate to be stuck in the mud with that thing wandering around me!

You wadefish there, I'll sit back and laugh!
Just time to change tactics. Mudboats and airboats rule this time of the year!

Never go on a negative tide. Unless you have a car top aluminum jon boat. Most times you do not have enough water, on a N wind to even get the boat off the trailer. And do not wade.

One of the best trout days I had last winter was wadefishing in an Econfina side creek on a blown-out low tide. Took one of my runners and his dad, and we limited out, with two over 22". Most of them in a trough that was almost sealed off from the flats. Of course...
...we had to bike 2 miles on a state park trail & hike another mile through a feeder stream first. The boy and his Pa are both distance runners, so they hung tough during the trek. The gators lose their spunk once the creek temps drop below 65.
Still, the main channel bottom is too soggy even for hardcore waders. I only had to sink to my thighs once to learn that.

Perfect for the kayaker. I've only fished Econfina twice. Both times were like that. We had the river to ourselves.
