MLK day

I managed to talk my buddy into taking me to one of his super-secret bass holes on a local creek, only accessible by foot (even on a high tide) He had some pictures from the previous two weekends that were making me drool. We started out by catching some shiners further up the creek, but only managed to get about 10-12 before we decided it was time to go before the tide came in and spread our bass out of the holes. He got the first strike and fought what looked like a 5-6 pound bass for a few seconds before she came off. A few minutes later, he managed to land a nice little 2 pounder. We each got a handful more strikes, but never caught any more before we ran out of shiners. We couldn't convince them to hit a spinner-bait, worm, jerk-bait, etc......
So, we decided to hit up one of his super secret trout holes, on a different creek, closer to the coast (by foot, no way to get a boat up there on low tide). We managed 6 nice trout before the tide came in high enough that we had to retreat to higher ground.
But we weren't done yet! We hopped in his little boat and hit the flats looking for more trout. We got right in the middle of a large school in just over a foot, but they must've been spooked, cause they weren't eating what we were throwing. But luckily, we had brought the cast net, so we went up another little creek hoping to find some silver mullet. I made 4 or five good casts, resulting in 15 or 20 black mullet, some of which still had roe in em. We never found any silver mullet, but I guess it wasn't really cold enough t o expect to.
We had to work hard for them, but we ended up with a really nice mess of fish. My wife is going out with some friends tonight, so I'm thinking I'm gonna fry myself up a meal of nothing but mullet gizzards! :lick:
Tight Lines!
