Saturdays weather forecast was rain in the morning and thunderstorms in the afternoon so told my wife it was another washed out trip but that we could check forecast early and head out if any change. Saturday at 5:30 forecast was good to go so pulled the boat around, did a quick rinse to get the pollen off and threw some rods and ice in and off we go about 9 ish.

Got to SH to find boat trailers parked in places I've never seen before. Dropped the boat off the trailer and started rigging while the admiral parked the truck (31 years of training on that one). She parked a long ways away so had everything rigged when she finally made it back.

Skies overcast but no rain on radar going all the way to Alabama so off we go.

Went south almost to Pepperfish, lots of boats from 2' to 8' plus.

Water stained, not a lot of grass. Very little bait activity on the flats 1 slot trout and a couple of shorts in about 4' and a bunch of rat reds at the grass line. My wife caught a chunky mid-slot red at the grass line.

Water temps about 77.5.

Better than staying home

Way to salvage the day. Better than cleaning, waxing and buffing a boat too.

At least you got out. Man that water is warm already.
