If I launch at the bridge, which direction would be the better fishing along the bayside of the island?

Talked to a Cpt. today and it sounds like it's a coin toss, the fishing is great right now. I personally have had better luck west.

Depends on tides. Tide is high at river when low at bay. Also depends on time of year.

Time of year will be this weekend through Tuesday.

What about Sikes Cut? Isn't that a good place to catch Bull Reds?

We will also be staying at SGI next week. We are staying on the East End bayside. I have a Bass Tracker, and we always use the launch areas in the state park unless we are going to fish The Cut or around Little SGI. We will be there 5/23-5/30. We usually launch at the 1st ramp, because there is good fishing close by. Look us up and we can compare notes. We will also monitor CH 14. Good luck, and look forward to seeing you!

i dont have 4 WD so I am not sure about launching at the park, although I am staying right there close to the entrance.

I will give you a shout on the radio!

I think you will be ok. I've never had to use 4 wheel drive at the state park ramps.

Is the park open all the time?

Dawn to dusk I think. In the past I would get a week pass with a gate code to allow me to get in earlier. I guess they still do that.

Two will drive will be no problem at all. I use it ALL the time at those ramps and I probably launch there a 100 times a year.. Park opens at 8 and closed at dusk. The gate opens automatically when exiting. you cant get locked in. Marsh Island area is on the way to the east end and has good bottom Also the East End in is just right down the backside of the Island and Is a LOT easier to fish than the cut, which can be dangerous and tricky to anchor properly. I have caught more big Reds at the East End than the cut, but in all fairness its fishable more often. On a falling tide there usually is a lot of action there, from Spanish to anything with fins.

An annual pass will get you in anytime but am not familiar with the weekly pass.

Thanks everyone.
Pirate I think I'll launch at the bridge and run east. 8 am at the park is too much daylight gone.

One trip I would like to try that falling tide at the cut. :)

If going to the cut I would recommend live bait(pilchards). Never had in luck there with anything else except maybe some cut mullet.

Be careful at cut. It can get rough. I recommend a pretty good size boat.

don't know that I would go to the islands this weekend. Is WTB still in existence or has it been killed?
