St Marks NWR - 7 June 2015

Post by Terrier »

Fished the wash bar at the refuge from 7:30Am - 12:30PM. Since fishing has been so slow for about 2 months, I intentionally left the cooler at home to appease the water sprites that control fishing. It worked a little bit - ended up with a 16" spanish caught on a Gartside gurler, a remora, a blue runner (both caught on a gray clouser), and two flounder, one at 17", the other at 15" - both caught on a pink/white cowen's coyote. Had a couple of short strikes by spanish as well. The good news is that there was bait in the water, including pinfish and lots of silversides. Also saw three sea turtles and a manatee and her calf. Next week I bring the cooler!
