Help! Just checked into our house at Alligator Point for a month of fishing blis, but my Yamaha 90 tilt and trim is not working and may be beyone repair. Engine is fine, fluid is full, but it's all locked up and I'm assuming the worst. Anyone have a tilt/trim assembly for sale in the area or an engine for cheap where the tilt trim works fine (even if there are other issues with the outboard)?
Here are the specs:
03 yamaha 90 hp outboard tilt and trim assembly
Engine: 2004 Yamaha 90tlrb (2 stroke 3 cycle)
T&T Assembly Part number: 6h1-43800-17-8d?
Appreciate any help I can get. Hate to sit in a house for a month with no boat, gotta catch the Daddy of that juvenile Cobia I reeled in yesterday.
Thanks, JD Taylor

Try mikes marine in panacea for the real fix. But, there should be a place where you can manually tilt the motor with a large flat head screwdriver. It may be enough to let you limp along until it is fixed correctly

Try Dougless Mobile Boat Mechanic...850-228-0889
Good guy and will come look where you are.
He has done work on my boat at a fair price and quickly.

Yamaha is famous for trim/tilt going bad. Porter Marine replaced mine several years ago at a great price. There's a large hole right below your mannual pin adjustment that you can bypass your trim/tilt with a flathead screwdriver. When in doubt give Waviel Porter a call.421-1490

Does the motor have a 2nd trim switch on the engine itself? Does it work?

I have an 05 90hp 4stoke purchased new at Mike's Marine. Several years ago the trim stopped working. I could hear the solenoid click when I hit the switch on the throttle or on engine. Took it to Mike's they "cleaned the trim motor out" charged me about $ 160.00 and sent me on my way. About a year later the same thing happened. Same repair process with similar costs. Since then it has happened 2 times and I have learned how to "clean the trim motor out". It appears the brushes create a lot of dust. May eventually spring for a new set of expensive brushes before going the very expensive trim motor route. By the way, if this sounds like your problem, often you can tap on the trim motor with a screw driver handle or piece of wood to get some temporary relief.
good luck.

Thanks for all the info guys. My tilt trim was corroding on the inside which made it work on occasions but then would get gummed up with rust and crap. My mechanic found a used one for 250 bucks (brilliant) and installed it yesterday! Very excited. Had to run with engine down for the last week but it's nice to have the thing tilting again.
Again, thanks for all the info form everyone. Means a lot!
